Excursion Food & wine pairing workshop dinner at ch tour at Bordeaux

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

Depart the pier in Bordeaux and head to Saint-Emilion vineyards. After a 45-minute drive, reach Château de Ferrand.

Located in the jurisdiction of Saint-Emilion, Château de Ferrand is an enchanting 17th-century château surrounded by vines and overlooking the Dordogne Valley. It is a rare jewel that has become accessible to the public. The Château was built during the reign of Louis XIV. It was purchased by Baron Bich in 1978 and it is now the property of his children. Baron Bich is world famous for its ballpoint pen sold all over the planet, as well as its disposable razors and lighters. The function room and wine cellars have been elegantly and stylishly refurbished by a renowned Italian designer. The estate's wines have been a leading light among the great Bordeaux wine estates for three hundred years.

In 2012 Ferrand won deserved recognition for the unanimously acclaimed quality of its wines, when the estate was awarded Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé status. This ranking also rewards châteaux that have been able to develop their architectural heritage and make it available to wine-lovers. Ferrand has fully restored winemaking facilities and a unique function/tasting room. Everything here is designed to appeal to wine-lovers, wine professionals and visitors from all horizons.

Tasting sessions are given by a sommelier, while the accompanying cuisine is refined and always perfectly matched to the range of vintages on offer. Authenticity runs through this exceptional estate, from the beauty of the site to the inestimable care and attention brought to the winemaking process, as well as food & wine pairings to delight the palate. Ferrand is the epitome of French art de vivre.

After a private tour of the estate and its cellars, enjoy a 4-dishes meal accompanied by 4 vintages of Château de Ferrand. End with a Café Gourmand.

This will be an informal, relaxed and entertaining ''dinner-workshop'', with the sommelier giving a class to further your knowledge of wine, and wine & food pairing. The workshop combines useful tips with pleasurable culinary experiences. It is all about tasting, savouring and comparing! A unique experience designed to awaken senses.

At the end of your sensorial learning experience, start the 45-minute drive back to the ship.
