Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Santa Marta into the lush foothills of the Sierra Nevada coastal range, passing through vibrant jungle scenery of Tayrona National Park and small villages where locals sell fresh fruit to passersby.

Trek To The Tayronaka Ruins

After about 90 minutes, leave the roadway behind and trek along a jungle trail with your expert guide for approximately 30 minutes to reach the ancient Tayronaka Ruins—remnants of an Indigenous settlement active between 800 and 1600 AD.

Visit Tribal Lands Of The Kogi People

Nearby, the Kogi tribe’s land awaits—descendants of the original Tayrona. After a warm welcome drink, join your hosts for a walking tour of the ruins and an introduction to Kogi culture, including participation in a brief friendship ceremony.

Cultural Micro-Museum & Roundhouse Tour

Explore a small cultural museum and tour a reconstructed roundhouse built in traditional style, still used by the community today, providing insight into their daily life and ancestral practices.

Please note: This adventure tour, suitable for active walkers only, involves about 2.5 km /1.5 mi of walking over flat and undulating natural trails with compacted mud & sand, exposed tree roots, loose gravel, steps, and steep inclines. Shallow streams with pebbles are crossed and will wet hikers’ shoes. Hot and humid conditions can be expected, along with potentially strong breezes. Guests should be in good physical health and able to walk at a medium pace in the heat. The tour is not suitable for those who utilise a wheelchair or have limited mobility. Dress in lightweight, comfortable clothing, wear waterproof walking or trail shoes with a good grip, and bring a hat and sun/insect protection. Some crowding at the Ruins may be expected. The order of sights and activities may vary.
