Seward, Alaska SeaLife Centre, Self-Guided Tour

Depart the pier via private transport for the short drive to the Alaska SeaLife Centre. Opened in 1998, it is Alaska's premier public aquarium and the only cold-water research and marine rehabilitation centre in the state. The mission of the Alaska SeaLife Centre is to provide interactive education with the marine animals it rescues. Operating as a designated marine mammal 'stranding centre' within a marine research facility enables veterinarians and staff to learn a great deal about these animals during the rehabilitation process. Upon arrival, take a self-guided tour of this captivating venue, which offers a unique opportunity to discover how the centre rescues, treats, and releases stranded, injured, and abandoned animals back into the wild.

Puffins, Migratory Birds, Harbour & Fur Seals, Stellar Sea Lions, Sea Otters, Octopus, Jellyfish

During your visit, you can also view and photograph diverse species of marine mammals, seabirds, fish, and invertebrates, some of which have been listed as 'threatened' or 'endangered' species. Included are puffins, migratory birds, harbour and fur seals, Stellar sea lions, sea otters, octopus, jellyfish, and other species experiencing population declines in Alaska. You are welcome to spend as much time as you would like exploring the Alaska SeaLife Centre. Afterward, you can stop by the gift shop to browse for a memento of your visit, then board the next shuttle for the short drive back to the pier.
