Depart Stornoway and travel along the scenic west coast of the Isle of Lewis to Dun Carloway Pictish Broch, a remarkably preserved Iron Age tower dating back to the last century BC and offering insight into early defensive architecture and local power structures. Continue to Gearrannan Blackhouse Village, a reconstructed settlement of traditional blackhouses where people and animals lived in close proximity. The houses were made using dry, stone masonry, and have thatched roofs distinctively weighted down with rocks.
