Explore the home of one of Canada's most beloved fictional characters during this half-day excursion to Green Gables, with a lobster lunch at the renowned Prince Edward Island Preserve Company.
Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 45-minute drive to Charlottetown, the birthplace of Canada, traveling through the picturesque countryside. Along the way, see rolling farmlands, stunning seascapes, tiny villages and bustling harbors.
Visit Green Gables, the homestead featured prominently in Lucy Maud Montgomery's book, Anne of Green Gables. Here, you can explore the rooms in the house or take a stroll down "Lovers' Lane." Your drive continues to Prince Edward Island National Park; arrive to marvel at stunning vistas of the white sandy beaches and sapphire blue water that extends out from the red sandstone cliffs. From here, proceed to the Prince Edward Island Preserve Company. A local landmark, this 1913 butter factory is now a shop with a wonderful showcase of Island products, including their world-famous preserves.
At the preserve factory participate in a true Island tradition, the lobster ceilidh (pronounced kaylee). It combines a magnificent view of the River Clyde and the impressive surrounding gardens with a traditional lobster lunch and some foot-stomping musical entertainment. The traditional lobster lunch (alternatives are available) features freshly-cooked lobster, potato salad and coleslaw, with raspberry pie for dessert.
After lunch, some time is made available to browse the gift shop and take in the beautiful gardens before re-boarding your coach for the approximately 30-minute drive back to the pier
