Excursion City lights & empire state building by evening tour at New York
Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
Few sights can compare to the thrill of experiencing the avenues and landmarks of New York City as daylight wanes and thousands of lights come up. Enjoy an evening excursion fully immersed in this wondrous daily transformation – savoring it at street level and from a legendary observation deck high above Manhattan.
Depart the pier by coach at dusk for a wide-ranging crosstown spin that brings you past icons like the spectacular Art Deco Chrysler Building, capped in reflective stainless steel; elegant Rockefeller Center, sprawling handsomely over 22 acres of Midtown; the neo-Gothic Woolworth Building towering over City Hall Park; the dazzling marquee lights of Broadway, and the Statue of Liberty posing majestically in distance across New York Harbor. Cross the Brooklyn Bridge, its suspension cables lit like a string of pearls above the humming roadway – and stop to marvel at prime Manhattan skyline views across the East River from historic Fulton Landing, where ferry service in New York began in 1642.
About two hours in, you’ll land at the Empire State Building for about 75 minutes for self-directed exploration, including access to the famous 86th-floor Observation Deck. While no longer the very tallest of New York’s skyscrapers, it’s still renowned for the breathtaking panoramic city views you'll catch from up there – especially after-hours. Drink in these stunning sights, then reboard for a visit to the electrifying nighttime scene at Times Square – a fitting last stop in your evening outing in the City That Never Sleeps. Take some time to stroll, shop, or visit a café or bar before reboarding for the short transfer back to the pier.
