Upon arrival at the Sanctuary Cliffs, disembark your boat and begin your guided hiking trek. Follow a path along the rocky coast, and enjoy spectacular panoramic views of Christiansø, Gudhjem, the coast, and Baltic Sea. This beautiful area has inspired many painters throughout the years, and is considered amongst Denmark’s most important landmarks. During your hike, a stop is made at a local café for a refreshment of cofee and a sandwich and an opportunity to marvel at the gorgeous view.

Free Time, Gudhjem Village, Shopping, Smokehouse

At the conclusion of your hike in Gudhjem, some free time is made available to explore this quaint village on your own. Stroll down the small, crooked, and charming streets whilst admiring the colourful timbered houses. You may opt to browse local shoppes selling pottery, hand-made glass, and caramels by the harbour-front, or perhaps stop by a smokehouse to purchase some traditional smoked herring to bring home with you. At the conclusion of your tour, re-board your coach and commence the approximately 30-minute drive back to the pier.

Please note: This tour involves an extensive amount of activity and an extensive amount of walking for approximately 4.1 miles (about 6.6 kilometres), at times over uneven, cobblestone, and natural surfaces and inclines, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach and embark/disembark the boat. This tour is not suitable for pregnant guests, guests with back and/or neck problems, heart and/or respiratory conditions, guests prone to seasickness, guests with limited mobility, and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Guests are advised to wear warm comfortable clothing in layers with flat, closed-toe, and non-slip hiking shoes, and bring sun protection, a weatherproof jacket, hat, gloves, raingear, bottled water, and Danish Krones or credit cards for purchases from the ship. Guests must be at least 12 years old to participate on this tour; minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to participate on this tour. A signed waiver is required to participate on this tour. Operation of this tour is subject to weather conditions. The tour sequence may vary. Space on this tour is extremely limited; we suggest you book well in advance to avoid disappointment. The ability of the M/S Thor to berth at the Sanctuary Cliffs is subject to water levels and sea conditions. In case of bad weather, the sailing is cancelled and the Sanctuary Cliffs are reached by coach instead.
