Depart the pier with your driver-guide for the scenic, approximately 75-minute drive through Tauranga and across the Kaimai Range and Waikato Lowlands en route to the Hobbiton movie set. Located near Matamata, the set was originally constructed in 1999 for the filming of the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Hobbiton Movie Set

Upon arrival, take a guided tour of the Hobbiton movie set, which was completely rebuilt in amazing detail in 2010 for the forthcoming three films of The Hobbit. Along the way, stroll around the home of the hobbits, where Bilbo Baggins lived, and see the Party Tree, restored bridge and old pub. Following your guided tour, enjoy tea or coffee and a snack at your own expense.

At the conclusion of your visit, re-board your coach and commence the approximately 1 hour drive back to the pier.
