Excursion Fort gorge & sea kayaking adventure tour at Portland

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

Fort Gorges, Coastal Scenery, Lighthouses

From the pier, a five-minute drive will take you to East End Beach, the departure point for your guided kayaking adventure. You’ll paddle across the waters of Casco Bay following a route that's rich with history and active with wildlife. After a brief lesson on the basics of sea kayaking, your guide will lead your small group to Fort Gorges, an impressive Civil War-era granite fort that's surrounded by water and that can only be reached by kayaks and other small boats.

You will land your kayak on a beach by the fort and enjoy a tour of the 161-year-old

structure, ending with a panoramic view of Portland harbor from atop the fort's outer

walls. Keep watch for seals, seabirds and other wildlife — not to mention the shore’s charming lighthouses — as you paddle back to East End Beach.

Your exciting kayaking experience concludes with a short drive back to the pier.
