Excursion Génipa bay mangrove boat tour with island refreshments tour at Fort de france

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

Overview

Spend four and a half hours discovering Martinique’s quietly captivating mangrove ecosystems on a guided boat journey through Génipa Bay, with round-trip transportation from the pier. Glide into the Rivière Salée and pause at Petit Îlet to explore native plant life and Carib heritage, capped with light local refreshments served on the islet.

Highlights

• Drift through hushed waterways where tangled mangrove roots, bird calls, and soft reflections define the pace of the experience.

• Gain insight into Martinique’s biodiversity and traditional plant uses through stories shared by local experts.

• Relax on Petit Îlet with water, soft drinks, rum punch, and homemade cake in a natural setting far removed from everyday rhythms.

Important Details

• Guests should be able to get on the boat as it is lower than the pontoon, so they need to be fully able to bend their knees, and have a good balance, no back pain.

• Bring insects repellant.

• After the ride in a bus, the group is divided in small groups (10 pax per boat) with English speaking captains, so the guide may not be on the same small boat as everyone but the captains are leading the excursion in the mangrove.

• No possibility to take a bath in the water.
