Main Street, Napoleon's Tomb and Longwood House

Depart the pier for the short drive along Main Street in Jamestown, the island's capital, which features lovely Georgian-style buildings. After a brief photo stop at Two Gun Saddle, continue along Napoleon Street for a visit to Napoleon's Tomb, where Napoleon Bonaparte was laid to rest before his body was taken to France in 1840. From here, proceed for a guided tour of Longwood House, Napoleon's last residence. Now a museum, Longwood House features nine rooms with artefacts belonging to the emperor.

Sandy Bay Ridges and Plantation House Grounds

Next, re-board your coach and proceed along the picturesque Sandy Bay Ridges, which is renowned for its splendid panoramic vistas of Mount Pleasant and Sandy Bay. A stop is then made at the grounds of Plantation House, residence of the governor. During your visit, see Jonathan the Tortoise, the island's oldest inhabitant and a local celebrity.

Ladder Hill

Your final stop is at Ladder Hill, which features spectacular views of the Ladder Hill Fort, its battery and guns, 700-step Jacob's Ladder, Jamestown, the harbour area, and your ship. Following your visit, re-board your coach for the short drive back to the pier, with a souvenir stop en route.

Please note: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach. This tour is suitable for guests with limited mobility, but is not wheelchair-accessible. Guests are advised to wear lightweight, comfortable clothing with flat, closed-toe walking shoes, and bring sun protection and a light jacket from the ship. Flash and video photography is not permitted at Longwood House. Space on this tour is extremely limited; we suggest you book well in advance to avoid disappointment.
