Take a tour by coach and on foot to see elements from the modern and colonial times of Rio, and discover up close what makes this city so marvelous.
Depart the pier by coach and drive along iconic Presidente Vargas Avenue to reach the Sambódromo, the famous Carnival Venue in Rio. After a photo stop, the tour continues to Praça XV square, where your walking tour begins.
Stroll through colonial Rio, passing the Arco do Teles, Cultural Central Banco do Brasil and ending at Candelária Church, stopping to visit the interior of this lovely structure. Continue on foot until you arrive at the antique coffee house Confeitaria Colombo, stopping to refresh your energy with for coffee or tea. Dating from the late 1800s, the Confeitaria Colombo still preserves its original colonial style, with its enormous jacaranda-framed mirrors from Belgium, stained glass from France, and tiles from Portugal are among the art nouveau decor's highlights.
Next, transfer 30 minutes to the São Bento Monastery for an interior tour. The São Bento Monastery, founded by Benedictine monks in 1586, is one of the most impressive Baroque style churches in Brazil. Be sure to bring your camera to capture the striking architecture.
Conclude your tour by walking 30 minutes back to the pier.
