ICHINOKUAR Sake Brewery

Depart the pier, and an approximately 30 minute drive will take you to the ICHINOKUAR Sake Brewery. Ichinokura is the largest brewery in the prefecture, located in Matsuyama, Osaki City, and a well-known rice-producing region where there is an abundance of high quality groundwater. The visit is approximately one-hour long guided by local staff. You will be able to view the equipment and sake making areas through glass windows, learn the history of the brewery, sample sake, and purchase souvenirs at the gift shop

Matsushima Area

After your visit head out to the Matsushima Area. Matsushima was hit by the earthquake and tsunami of March 11, 2011, but escaped major damage thanks to its protected location inside the island dotted bay. Matsushima Bay is the first bay in Japan to join the World's Most Beautiful Bays Club in 2013, joining the ranks of other world-famous bays such as the San Francisco Bay, Mont Saint-Michel Bay, and Ha Long Bay. You can stroll around this area at your own leisure.

Kanezaki Sasakama-san

Kanezaki Sasakama-san is your last stop on this tour. "Kamaboko" fish cake is popular in Miyagi Prefecture thanks to the abundant fishing grounds along the Sanriku Coast. Kanezaki which makes a special kind of kamaboko called "sasa-kamaboko" or "bamboo leaf shaped fish cake," which originated in Sendai. The staff will provide instructions how to prepare it, grill it and then you are welcome to taste it.

Please note: This tour involves a moderate to extensive amount of walking of approximately 1.7km or 1 mile at times over uneven surface and 100 steps to negotiate at the sites and a few to get on/off the coach. It is not suitable for guests with limited mobility or those who utilise a wheelchair. Lightweight comfortable clothing, and flat, closed-toe walking shoes are recommended. Guests must be at least 21 years to taste alcoholic beverages. Japanese Yen is required for any purchases: guests are advised to exchange money at the airport prior the cruise. A minimum number of participants is required to operate this programme.
