Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
Indulge your senses with the tropical splendour of the Seychelles during this exhilarating, full-day helicopter flight-seeing excursion to Silhouette Island.
Victoria, Mahe, Helicopter Flight to Silhouette Island
Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 30-minute drive to the helipad in Mahe for check-in, and your awaiting helicopter. Upon arrival, receive your safety and flight instructions, then begin your breath-taking, approximately 15-minute helicopter flight to Silhouette Island. Named after the French Finance Minister under Louis XV, Silhouette is the third-largest granitic island in the Seychelles and has an area of approximately 7.7 square miles (about 20.1 square kilometres).
Silhouette Island, Mount Dauban, Rainforest, La Passe Village, Trails, White-Sand Beaches
The island's white-sand beaches rim its mountainous interior. Silhouette's highest peak is Mount Dauban, which soars approximately 2,428 feet (about 740 meters) above a virgin rainforest filled with rare hardwoods, exotic orchids and carnivorous pitcher plants. The mountain was named for the Dauban family, which owned Silhouette until the 1960s. Silhouette's only settlement is the village of La Passe, on the island's western coast. The island has well-maintained trails, allowing visitors to explore beaches and some of the rainforest. Following your flight-seeing discovery of Silhouette Island, land at the helipad, de-board your helicopter and begin your guided walking tour.
Guided Walking Tour, Old Cemetery, Chapel, Hilton Labriz, Lunch, Beach, Indian Ocean, Free Time
Your guided stroll takes you along the Trail of the Historical Tombs of Dauban. Continue through the Old Cemetery, and hear stories about pirates, treasures and days of yore. Upon arrival in the island's small village, visit the Old Chapel. Following your walking tour, proceed to the Hilton Labriz for lunch at the hotel's Beach restaurant. Afterward, some free time is made available to soak up the tropical sun, relax and unwind on the white-sand beach, and/or take a refreshing dip in the warm, inviting waters of the Indian Ocean. At the conclusion of your visit, walk back to the jetty and helipad for check-in, and your panoramic, approximately 15-minute flight back to the helipad in Mahe. Upon arrival, re-board your coach and commence the approximately 30-minute drive back to the pier.
