Meštrovic Gallery Gardens and Kastalet Visit
Embark the bus for a short scenic drive to the Meštrovic Gallery Gardens and Kastelet. Set in stunning surroundings, with its beautiful gardens overlooking neighboring islands, this magnificent marble villa pays tribute to Croatia’s famous sculptor who grew from humble beginnings as a stone cutter’s apprentice, to become one of the 20th century’s most acclaimed artists. Upon visiting the Garden and following a short walk to the Kastelet – Crikvice part of this complex museum, you will find yourselves in this sacral and artistic ensemble formed on a ruined agricultural estate with the remains of the building of the Capogrosso family from the 16th century. An exploration of this sacral complex and the wooden works exhibited there will follow and you will be able to admire 28 reliefs and a crucifix, which Meštrovic worked on for 33 years.
Omis Town, Cetina River-Cruise
Next, re-board your coach for the coastal drive to the town of Omis. Upon arrival in Omis, proceed to the Cetina River. This swift mountain river meanders through numerous picturesque canyons before reaching the sea. Upon arrival at the banks of the Cetina River, embark your awaiting vessel for a scenic, approximate 45-minute cruise.
Lunch at Stella Croatica
After the cruise, re-board the coach for a scenic drive to Stella Croatica, a unique venue offering an overview of the Dalmatian culture, tradition and cuisine. Split, Central Split, Old Town, Diocletian Palace, Basement Halls, Peristyle, St. Duje Cathedral
Depart the pier for the approx. 30 minutes transfer into Central Split. Upon arrival, leave your coach and commence your guided walking tour through the city’s Old Town, with visits to the Diocletian Palace. Old Split is synonymous with the palace complex. In fact, the Old Town is built on-and-around the spectacular palace erected by the Roman emperor Diocletian, who was born in nearby Salona. Upon entering the Diocletian Palace, see the excavated, well-preserved basement halls. Next, proceed along the colonnaded peristyle to see the Neo-Romanesque Cathedral of St. Duje, dedicated to the patron saint of the city. Built on the remains of an ancient shrine, the Cathedral is among the oldest in the world.
