Excursion Anan bear wildlife viewing tour at Wrangell

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

Join this wildlife and history tour to the Anan Wildlife Observatory located in the Tongass National Forest of Southeast Alaska, 40 miles south of Wrangell Alaska. The tour begins with a 60-minute jet boat ride from Wrangell through the Eastern Passage. Seals, Stellar Sea Lions, dolphins and occasional Orca feed on herring and smelt in the bays and currents along the way. Eagle nests, seal haul outs and migrating waterfowl are a part of this educational wildlife tour. Your guides will make stops to discuss the history, geology and biology of the local area.

A graded and maintained 1/2-mile trail with sections of stairs leads up to the observatory platform above a cascading waterfall. Here we stop and take in the majesty of the rainforest. This is an area bears frequent, looking for salmon to feed on.
