Depart the pier for a picturesque sightseeing drive around La Palma. Your first stop is at the stunning La Concepción Viewpoint, which offers spectacular panoramic vistas over the Valle de las Breñas and the entire eastern slope of the island. After a photo stop here, re-board your coach and head to the Cigar Museum. During your visit, learn about the history, tradition, and future of the cigar crop, which reached La Palma around 1850, brought by those immigrants who returned from Cuba at a time when tobacco was widely spreading throughout the New World.
La Ermita de Nuestra Señora de las Nieves, Bar Parrilla Las Nieves, Local Specialities
Next, re-board your coach and head towards La Ermita de Nuestra Señora de las Nieves, which houses the venerated image of the Lady of the Snows, patron saint of the island of La Palma. Construction of this church began in 1532. Following a short stroll around the exterior of the church, re-board your coach and proceed for a refreshment stop at Bar Parrilla Las Nieves. Upon arrival, enjoy a tasting of local specialities such as goat cheese and papas arrugadas.
Historical Quarter, Carved Wooden Balconies, Colonial Houses, Cobblestone Streets
After your refreshment stop, continue on for a guided stroll through the old St. Cruz de la Palma Historical Quarter. Many of the riches that the Spanish brought back from their colonies in the Americas passed through the gates of La Palma. This is reflected in the important architectural heritage of the city, with examples of unique sets of carved wooden balconies overlooking the sea and numerous, Colonial-style houses set on cobblestone streets.
