Discover the highlights of Canterbury and Christchurch during this scenic and relaxing, half-day excursion through the city and countryside.

Lyttelton City and Harbour, Governors Bay, Gebbies Pass, Manderley Farm

Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately one-hour drive to the Manderley Farm. En route, ride around Lyttelton Harbour, an extinct volcano, then on to idyllic Governors Bay. From here, cross Gebbies Pass to the Manderley Farm, located near Little River.

Manderley Farm, Sheepdog Demonstration, Morning Tea

Upon arrival at Manderley Farm, receive a warm greeting from the owners, Ross and Mary Millar. Ross entertains you with a sheepdog demonstration that shows the important role dogs play in the operation of a successful sheep farm, then proceed for tea served with home -baked specialities in the landscaped gardens of this fully restored 1875 homestead. A cash only gift shop available for souvenirs.

Lake Ellsmere, Tai Tapu, Christchurch, Lyttelton Tunnel

Next, re-board your coach and proceed for a drive along the shores of Lake Ellsmere, then through the small township of Tai Tapu en route to Christchurch. Whilst driving through the city, pass by some of the areas affected by the 2011 earthquake. See how Christchurch is preserving some of its iconic heritage buildings, and hear about the exciting vision to rebuild and restore the inner-city before commencing the approximately 30-minute drive back to the pier via the Lyttelton Tunnel.

Please note: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking for approximately 219 yards (about 200 metres), at times over uneven and grassy surfaces and hills, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach. This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Guests are advised to wear lightweight, comfortable clothing with flat, closed-toe walking shoes, and bring sun protection and a weatherproof coat or jacket from the ship.
