Excursion Cape town & table mountain (tour & airport / hotel transfer) tour at Cape Town
Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
This tour and airport transfer is offered to guests with flights that depart Cape Town International Airport after 06:00pm and to our guests with hotel reservations at the Victoria & Alfred Hotel.
No visit to Cape Town is complete without a trip up Table Mountain, the city's most celebrated landmark.
Panoramic Cape Town
Depart quayside and enjoy a sightseeing tour of the "Mother City" with its meticulously preserved Edwardian and Victorian buildings. Proceed up Adderley Street, the principal thoroughfare of Cape Town, passing notable buildings which include the Groote Kerk and St George's Cathedral. Also pass by Castle of Good Hope and the City Hall before driving up Kloof Nek, the saddle between Table Mountain and Lions Head, to the Lower Cableway Station.
Table Mountain
Ascend from the Valley Station 1190 feet (363 metres) to the Mountain Station 3477 feet (1,060m) in a Swiss engineered Rotair cable car. The journey from the base to the summit takes just under 4 minutes where you will enjoy spectacular views as the floor of the car rotates 360 degrees during the ascent and descent.
Table Mountain gets her name from the flat topped central massif of the mountain, which viewed from the city, is surrounded by Devil's Peak on the left, Lion's Head on the right and Signal Hill in the foreground. They form a sort of amphitheatre that encloses the city centre and some of the older suburbs. Other earlier suburbs are on either side of the chain of mountains, which run like a spine through the Cape Peninsula, from Table Mountain to Cape Point - the cape from which Cape Town gets its name.
From the summit, the natural protected area stretching from Signal Hill to Cape Point has been managed under the custodianship of the National Parks Board. This area has one of the highest concentrations of endemic plant and animal species in any area of its size, containing a staggering 2 285 plant species - more than the entire U.K.
Scenic Drive
Following this visit, continue to Camps Bay and then enjoy a scenic drive along the Atlantic seaboard, passing through the residential suburbs of Clifton, Bantry Bay, Sea Point and Green Point en-route.
Hotel Drop-Off
Pass by the impressive Cape Town Stadium before continuing to the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront Complex; our first drop-off point.
Airport Drop-Off
For guests continuing on to the Cape Town international Airport, first enjoy some free time at leisure or last minute shopping and lunch (at your own expense) before re-boarding the coach for the approximate one hour drive.
Please note: This tour and airport/hotel transfer is offered to guests with flights departing from the Cape Town International Airport after 06:00pm or those whose ultimate destination is a Silversea Hotel. This tour requires a moderate amount of walking and it is not suitable for guests with limited mobility or those who utilise a wheelchair. Guests must be able to embark/disembark the coach via steps with little to no assistance. We recommend guests wear flat, comfortable shoes and bring a sweater or light jacket if cool, as temperatures atop Table Mountain are less warm. The cable car visit at Table Mountain is strictly weather-permitting. If there is cloud cover, the visibility from the summit is very limited. If the cableway is closed, guests will be taken to the summit of Signal Hill to enjoy the views and visit the South African Natural History Museum. Tour's operation is subject to minimum participation. This tour is not recommended for guests who are afraid of heights. Queues at the Lower Cable Station can be longer than usual on busy days. In order to avoid congestion, the order of sites may vary.
