Enjoy one hour guided rainforest walk in the area known as the natural jewel of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.

Mary Cairncross Reserve

Depart the pier for an approximately one hour scenic drive from the coast to the Mary Cairncross Reserve. The Reserve is a living museum of diverse plant and animal life and it comprises of 55 hectares of subtropical rainforest overlooking the heritage listed Glass House Mountains landscape.


Guided Walk

Your local guide will take you on an approximate one-hour guided walk through the reserve. As you walk through the rainforest, take in the sound of the wildlife, try to spot and hear as many of the 141 bird species as you can. You will see 700-year-old gum trees, large fig-trees, and Red Cedar make sure to watch your step as there are a lot of wallabies that dart across the track.


Interactive Discovery Centre

Next, head to the interactive Discovery Centre where you can learn even more about this diverse eco-system and its native flora and fauna. Offering the most spectacular views, the Discovery Centre features an elevated viewing platform and boardwalk and the Rainforest Education Centre with a combination of traditional interactive displays, multi-sensory experiences and exhibits.


Free Time, Glass House Mountains Views, Lunch

Enjoy some free time to stroll around the viewing platform for spectacular views of the Glass House Mountains which were formed 25-27 million years ago from once an active volcano. These unique mountains are a cluster of thirteen hills that rise abruptly from the coastal plain on the Sunshine Coast. The highest hill is Mount Beerwah at 556 metres above sea level, but the most identifiable of all the hills is Mount Tibrogargan which from certain angles bears a resemblance to a face staring east towards the ocean. At the conclusion of your visit, enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant before your return drive back to the pier.

Please note: This tour requires moderate to extensive amount of walking; guests must be able to walk for approximately 2 kilometres (1.25 miles). This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility and is not wheelchair accessible. Journey up into the mountains may be on a windy road, those with motion sickness may want to take precautions. Walking during free time is at the guest's discretion. Mainly flat paved areas, however some steps may be required to enter venues. Walking during this tour will be over a number of surfaces including grassed, earth, rocky and gravel surfaces. Pathways may be uneven surfaces with some steps, some steep inclines and declines may be encountered. Areas may be slippery and muddy.
