Excursion Jaffa exploration & panoramic tel aviv tour at Ashdod

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

Embrace Israel's historic and modern-day beauty during this scenic tour of contemporary Tel Aviv, with a visit to the ancient port city of Jaffa.

Transfer to Tel Aviv

Depart the pier for the approximate one-hour drive north to Tel Aviv. This thriving metropolis, with its skyscrapers and shops, nightlife and cafés, is the country's financial and business centre, as well as its cultural and entertainment capital.

Scenic Orientation Drive

During your drive along Rothschild Blvd., see the original Bauhaus buildings, which are credited with enabling Tel Aviv to become a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Tel Aviv's modern face is reflected in the Habimah National Theatre and the Mann Auditorium. Next, drive along Ibn Gvirol Street, named for one of Israel's most famous poets, and pass by the Tel Aviv Art Museum, Golda Meir Centre, and Tel Aviv Court. From here, proceed past the square where Prime Minister Itzhak Rabin was assassinated on November 4, 1995, then continue along the Mediterranean Coast to Jaffa, one of the oldest cities in the world.

Jaffa, Guided Walking Tour & Free Time

Upon arrival, view the city's older section, which has been restored and now serves as a charming artists' colony and cultural centre. Leave your coach for a guided walking tour along the winding, cobblestone lanes, and past art studios and galleries. Sites to be seen include the clock tower where Old Jaffa begins, along with mosques, churches and the town's exotic flea market. A photo stop is then made at Jaffa's observation point, which overlooks the 'White City' of Tel Aviv. Your visit to Jaffa concludes with some free time to explore the city at your leisure before re-boarding your coach for the approximate 45-minute return drive to the pier.
