Next, we journey to the Wailua River and Fern Grotto, one of Kauai’s most beloved attractions. Enjoy a leisurely boat ride up Hawaii's only navigable river, the Wailua River, as you soak in the serene landscape. Upon reaching the Fern Grotto, you’ll be enchanted by its natural amphitheater of lava rock and tropical vegetation. Here, you’ll be serenaded Hawaiian-style, experiencing a magical moment that transports you back in time. The lush surroundings and the romantic ambiance of the Fern Grotto make it a highlight of the tour.

North Shore, Kilauea Lighthouse, Princeville Resort Area, Hanalei Bay

Our exploration continues to Kauai's stunning North Shore, where you’ll learn about the island’s history and culture, including the legend of the Sleeping Giant. We visit the Kilauea Lighthouse and the nearby Kilauea National Wildlife Refuge, home to a diverse array of bird species. The tour proceeds to the picturesque Princeville Resort Area and Hanalei Bay, recognized as America’s best beach in 2009 by Dr. Beach. After enjoying a delightful picnic lunch in Hanalei, we will commence the approximately 60-minute drive back to the pier, ensuring you return to your cruise ship having experienced some of Kauai's most scenic and culturally significant locations.

Note

Please note: This tour involves an extensive amount of walking and standing for approximately one mile (about 1.6 kilometres), at times over uneven, grassy, rocky, and natural surfaces, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach and embark/disembark the boat. This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility and guests who utilise a wheelchair. The vehicle does not have a storage compartment therefore mobility devices are not allowed. Guests are advised to wear lightweight, comfortable clothing with flat, sturdy, and closed-toe walking shoes, and bring sun protection, insect repellent, umbrella, bottled water, and US Dollars or credit cards for purchases from the ship. Guests must be at least seven years old to participate on this tour; minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over 18 years old. Guests must be at least 21 years old to be served alcoholic beverages. The Lighthouse and Sanctuary are closed Sundays-Tuesdays. On these days, the tour includes viewing from an overlook, without access to the lighthouse or its grounds. The Fern Grotto is only available on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. The boat-cruise, Fern Grotto and Opaeka'a Falls viewing are not exclusive to Silversea guests and may include other groups. The tour sequence may vary.
