Masada
Depart the pier for approximately 2.5-hour drive to Masada, the most spectacular ancient archaeological site in Israel. Ascend by cable car to this mountaintop fortress, built by Herod the Great. Explore the magnificent ancient ruins, which include Herod's three-tiered palace, the synagogue, the baths, the defending walls and the water cisterns that are an engineering feat still today.
Lunch
After a morning of extraordinary vistas, be treated to a relaxing lunch overlooking the pale, still water of the Dead Sea.
Dead Sea
After lunch, take the opportunity to experience the exquisite sensation of floating effortlessly upon the buoyant waters of the Dead Sea. With more salt and minerals than any other body of water in the world, the Dead Sea is claimed to be a natural health and beauty spa.
Qumran
Re-boarding your coach, travel along the shores of the Dead Sea to arrive at the point from which the Qumran Caves are clearly visible at the Qumran Visitor's Centre. It was here in 1947 that a Bedouin shepherd boy discovered the famous Dead Sea Scrolls, the oldest known biblical manuscripts in the world. Free time will be available for photos..
Departing Qumran, ascend the Judean Hills to the north for a view of Jericho before continuing on the 2-hour return trip to Ashdod and your awaiting ship.

Please note: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking. Walking atop Masada is over uneven paths, with gravel and loose stones. This tour is not recommended for guests with limited mobility or those who utilise a wheelchair. Guests are encouraged to wear seasonal clothing with flat, comfortable walking shoes, sun protection and bring a swimsuit, water shoes and a camera from the ship. Changing facilities are available with showers with shower gel, shampoo and towels provided/included. Guests wishing to swim may do so at their own risk as there are no lifeguards available. The drive from Ashdod to Masada is approximately 2.5 hours. Please be advised that the itinerary and duration of the tour might be affected by traffic. The tour sequence may vary.
