Enjoy a visit to Bacalhoa Palace and wine tasting at the Bacalhoa cellar Museum,. Bacalhoa Palace is the headquarters for the Quinta da Bacalhôa winemakers that produce over 20 million litres of wine per year across Portugal. This excursion is your opportunity to taste one sweet wine and three table wines, and also see beautiful city views of Lisbon, Portugal's beautiful coastal capital.

Depart the pier via coach, driving 45 minutes via the Parque das Nações (the modern part of Lisbon and the former Expo 98 site), crossing the impressively long, 17-km Vasco da Gama Bridge to arrive at Quinta da Bacalhôa.

Exit the coach and gaze in awe at the winery's home, the historic and stunning Bacalhôa Palace, with its Italian-style courtyards and gardens. Built in the 15th century, the palace was originally home to the Portuguese Royal Family and was converted to the existing winemaking operation in 1922.

Be greeted by your wine expert and explore the interior of Quinta da Bacalhoa Palace. From here you will be heading to the Bacalhoa cellar Museum and discover different collections divided into thematic groups expository: "Out of Africa" is an exhibition dedicated to the Queen Ginga and three Landscape Wonders from Angola - the Dark Stones from Pungo Andongo, the Tundavala Gap and Kalandula Falls, with 700 pieces from 15 different countries.

"Portuguese Tiles from XVI to XX Century", used so lush and unparalleled in any European country, the tiles, which proliferated for more than five centuries in Portugal, eventually became a genuine contribution to our country's cultural heritage and artistic world.

You will do a wine tasting to discover 1 moscatel wine, Bacalhôa Moscatel de Setúbal / Fortified Sweet Wine 2019 which is the specialty of the Setubal region and 3 table wines including the Bacalhôa Greco di Tufo / White Wine 2022; Bacalhôa Merlot Tinto / Red Wine 2019; Quinta da Bacalhôa Tinto / Red Wine 2018.

Scenic Drive with Panoramic Lisbon Views

After you have sampled all there is to try, it is time to make your way back to the ship, taking a scenic return trip to the pier along the iconic 25th April Bridge, the longest suspension bridge in Europe that hovers 230 feet over the vast River Targus. Enjoy this sweeping city view of gracious Lisbon and return to the pier.
