Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

Mykonos is proud of its locally-produced cheese called "kopanisti" which bears a century's long tradition for its tangy flavour and smooth texture. Almost every Mykonian family has Kopanisti stored somewhere in the house. The ability to store it throughout the whole year gives it an incredibly pungent flavor profile. On this S.A.L.T. experience, sample the cheese Mykonos is famous for and learn the production process from start to finish.

Next, assist in the preparation of some cheese-full dishes which you can then enjoy along with local white wine. Afterwards, enjoy free time to walk the property or simply relax in the sun.

Upon departure, don't forget your folder of the tasteful recipes made with Mykonian cheeses. Lastly, board your coach for the approximately 20-minute transfer back to the pier.

Your Host - Yiorgos Syrianos

You will be guided along your visit at the dairy farm by the knowledgeable and well-experienced cheese master Yiorgos Syrianos. He is a local Mykonian third generation cheese maker who will share his passion for the art of cheese making. "Zenon Papyri" - the first reference to boiled cheese - dates back to ancient times on the sacred island of Delos. Manuscript papyri from the famous Zenon archive claim that the King of Delos, wanting to show his gratitude to the King of Egypt, sent him five pieces of excellent boiled cheese. Even today, Yiorgos has kept this same sentiment, considering Mykonian cheese making to be an art.
