Excursion Sweet cap de la hague tour at Cherbourg

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

Discover the charms that await you at the tip of the Contenin peninsula in Cap de la Hague. Drive along this picturesque coastline to arrive and stroll in ruggedly beautiful Port Racine (France's smallest port) and gaze in awe at the giant cliffs of Jobourg. Enjoy the regional specialty, le crepe, with a hot drink before making the scenic drive to the pier through more lovely villages.

Port Racine

Departing the pier drive 30 minutes to Port Racine, named after one of the last pirates at the time of Napoleon, Captain François-Médard Racine. Drive along the picturesque coastline, a lovely patchwork of green and brown rolling hills that extend into craggy cliffs. This bucolic landscape studded by stone walls leads you through the petite village of Greville Hague, the homeplace of the painter Jean François Millet. Arrive at this picture-perfect harbor that is the smallest port in France and stroll for awhile amidst its old stone walls, enjoying the scenic views.

Joburg

Drive just 15 minutes to Jobourg, which is known for its scenic Jobourg Point cliffs that stretch impressively into the sea. Jobourg Point is called Nez de Jobourg in French, or "Jobourg Nose" for the promontory of giant cliffs that extend outwards and tower up to 420 feet. Walk to the centre of this quaint village, which is home to the Romanesque church notably painted by Millet.

Crepe Tasting

Reboarding the coach drive 15 minutes to a local restaurant for the culinary highlight of the tour, a tasting of crepes accompanied by a hot drink. All too soon, it is time to make the return (one-hour) drive to the ship, traveling through the scenic villages of Vauville and Biville.

Please note: This tour involves a minimal amount of walking (approximately half a mile), with a few stairs. This tour is not recommended for individuals confined to wheelchairs because the coach requires its passengers to board and disembark with minimal assistance. Individuals who are confined to their wheelchairs must make arrangements at least a month in advance with the Shore Concierge Staff to ensure that a special needs vehicle is secured. Children's seats can be provided upon request. Comfortable shoes are recommended. Space on this tour is limited; we suggest you book well in advance to avoid disappointment.
