Experience the scenic beauty and historic legacy of the Balearic Islands during this memorable sightseeing tour of Palma. Palma de Mallorca comes as a surprise to many people - it is stylish, sophisticated, intimate, yet bursting with life. Located on the southern shores of Mallorca, the island's capital city looks out over the sparkling blue seas of the Mediterranean.

Depart the pier for the brief drive to the hilltop location of Bellver Castle.

Bellver Castle

Upon arrival at this beautifully-restored former royal stronghold, walk from the coach parking area and across a drawbridge en route to the entrance. During your walking tour inside the gothic-style castle, see the arcades gracing the circular courtyard and interesting artefacts in a number of rooms. Staircases lead to the upper levels, which offer spectacular views and photo opportunities over Palma and the distant mountains.

City Sights

After re-boarding the coach, your drive continues into the city centre, and passes through residential and commercial areas. Upon arrival at the downtown coach parking area, commence your guided walking tour through the historic Old Quarter. Palma's most beautiful and impressive section, it is filled with stately Mallorcan buildings and home to the majestic La Seu Cathedral.

La Seu Cathedral

With its huge flying buttresses, the La Seu Cathedral looms over the Parque de la Mar. The dramatic sides of this great edifice rise up in Gothic splendour. The sight has drawn admiration from numerous literary figures, including the French writer, George Sand. During your visit, marvel at the cathedral's breath-taking interior. The rose window is said to be the world's largest.

From here the walking tour continues through the Old Quarter. Along the way, your guide points out major highlights reminiscent of the golden years of Mallorcan nobility.

Following your visit, re-board the coach and drive back to the port along the seafront, which features the yacht-filled marina on one side, and hotels and restaurants on the other. You may choose to proceed directly to the ship, or remain in town and return to the pier at your leisure.
