Excursion Wine tasting - vin de tahiti tour at Rangiroa
Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
While not posing a serious threat to French wines, the viticulture in Rangiroa is unique in the world and a visit to the winery in Rangiroa makes for quite an unusual experience. The creation of a vineyard in French Polynesia required long years of preliminary research. No production of such scope had ever been undertaken in Polynesia, and certainly not on an atoll.
Rangiroa, Vin de Tahiti, Mana'o Rangiroa Rum, Tasting
Take a short ride from the pier in Rangiroa marina to discover the adventure of Vin de Tahiti and taste the results of years of passionate work. In order to grow exceptional wine, the domaine had to develop techniques adapted to the Polynesian soil. Its history starts in 1992, when the first stocks were imported and went through acclimation and selection tests in the main archipelagos of Polynesia. Today, Vin de Tahiti is grown on a small motu (islet) and the vineyard produces white wines (Blanc de corail, Clos du Récif and Blanc moelleux) and rosé wine (Rosé Nacarat). There are two harvests per year, in May and December, austral winter and austral summer harvests.
During this amazing visit, you will discover the cellar of the domain and you will hear about the history of
Vin de Tahiti, and Mana’o Rangiroa rum, the first Polynesian pure juice of organic sugar cane.
Taste the four vintages of Vin de Tahiti and the Mana’o Rangiroa rum.
At the conclusion of your experience, take a return ride to Rangiroa pier.
