Excursion Cliffs of jokin tour at Lifou

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

Discover the exquisite views and flavours of New Caledonia during this panoramic sightseeing excursion.

Lifou, Easo, North Coast, Tropical Flora, Homes and Gardens, Vanilla Plantation Tour, Coffee

Depart the pier for the scenic drive across the island, from the tiny settlement of Easo in Santal Bay to the rugged north coast. En route, pass by colourful tropical trees, palms and traditional houses with magnificent flowering gardens. Your first stop is at the Vanilla Plantation. Upon arrival, take a guided stroll around the plantation, and view and photograph the multitude of vines that produce the aromatic vanilla pods. Following your tour, relax with a cup of vanilla-enhanced coffee served at the Vanilla Plantation. Leaving the Vanilla Plantation, re-board your coach and continue on to Cliffs of Jokin.

Cliffs of Jokin, Village and Viewpoint, Panoramic Cliffs, Tropical Reefs, and Seascapes

Upon arrival, some free time is made available to stroll about the small village of Jokin, and beyond it to the viewpoint. Here, take in spectacular panoramic vistas and photo opportunities of its cliffs, which are largely comprised of layer-upon-layer of ancient, compressed coral stone, and the tropical reefs and seascapes beyond. Although the water at the base of the cliffs looks tempting, please be advised that there are over 200 steps to the bottom and heavy sea swells make this a dangerous place to swim. During your visit, cool off with a thirst-quenching, island-style, fresh coconut drink. At the conclusion of your visit, re-board the coach and commence the short drive to the pier. Upon arrival, locally-made handicrafts and souvenirs can be purchased at the tour dispatch location before returning to the ship.
