Walk through history in Faenza and learn of the skill of ceramics from this region before driving into the countryside for lunch and a tasting of the olive oils Brisighella is renowned for.
Faenza and Ceramics Museum
Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately one-hour drive to the beautiful city of Faenza, renowned for its production of exquisite pottery. Upon arrival, proceed for a visit to the International Museum of Ceramics to view superb examples of ancient, Old World and modern works. Of Roman origins, Faenza is a splendid city of art whose fame is shown in the Renaissance period with the production of exquisitely made pottery that was exported all over Europe.
Old Town, Cathedral (outside visit)
Next, proceed for a guided walking tour of the old town. Marvel at the splendid architecture of the central square, Piazza del Popolo, and its beautiful Cathedral, one of most notable examples of Renaissance architecture in the Romagna region for an external visit.
Brisighella
Afterward, drive into the hills beyond Faenza en route to the Brisighella viewpoint for breath-taking panoramic vistas of the magnificent hilltop residences and green valley below. Your tour continues with a visit to Brisighella's town centre for an olive oil tasting accompanied by a light buffet of traditional local specialities. Your tour concludes with a brief stroll through this medieval town, and along the famous Via Degli Asini. Some free time in Brisighella is included for shopping and independent exploration before commencing the approximately one-hour drive back to the pier.

Please note: This tour involves an extensive amount of walking for approximately 1.87 miles (about three kilometres), at times over uneven surfaces and cobblestone streets, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach and steps at the sites visited. This tour is not recommended for guests with limited mobility and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Lightweight, comfortable clothing, flat, closed-toe walking shoes and sun protection is recommended. Proper attire is required to enter the cathedral; shorts and bare shoulders are not permitted. Guests must be at least 21 years old to participate in tastings of alcoholic beverages. The tour sequence may vary. Space on this tour is very limited; we suggest you book in advance to avoid disappointment. If the International Museum of Ceramics is closed, the visit will be changed to the Palazzo Milzetti, National Museum of Neoclassical Age of Emilia Romagna Region. Shops in Brisighella are closed on Thursday afternoons, Sundays, bank and church holidays. Shops are normally open from 09.00am to 1230pm and from 03.30pm to 07.30pm, some shops may open all the day through.
