Excursion Hvar island highlights tour at Hvar

Experience the picturesque beauty and historic landmarks of Hvar Island during this half-day sightseeing excursion to Starigrad and Vrisnik.

After tendering ashore and a brief short walk to the parking lot, depart the pier in Hvar Town for the scenic, approximately 30-minute drive to Starigrad. En route, take in the Old World beauty and lush vegetation of the island.

Starigrad

Famous for its large bay, Starigrad has long inspired artists and poets, and dates from the 2nd century BCE. Upon arrival, a visit is made to the Dominican Monastery, whose library houses priceless books and paintings. Some free time is then made available to explore the town before re-boarding your coach for the scenic drive to the village of Vrisnik.

Vrisnik

A friendly host welcomes your arrival with dried figs and a special tasting of the island's cheeses and wines, made locally and produced only in small quantities. Leaving Vrisnik, your drive continues on to the Spagnola Fortress, where a stop is made to take in magnificent views overlooking the town of Hvar and the Pakleni Islands.

Following your visit, re-board your coach for the brief return drive to the pier in Hvar Town and tender back to the ship.

Please note: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking over cobblestone and paved terrain. Walking in Vrisnik involves a few steps and the Spagnola Fortress visit involves around 15 steps. This tour is not recommended for guests confined to a wheelchair or those with limited mobility. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing, flat walking shoes and sun protection. Credit cards are not accepted in all venues, we suggest to bring local currency.
