Embark on a sailing through the mangroves to Ilha de Deus, or God’s Island - one of the oldest communities in Recife. Meet your guide and learn how its people have utilized a sustainable mindset to enable this once poverty-stricken island to prosper.

Under the directive of NGO Educational Center Popular and its “Knowing to Live” program, several workshops have been developed to help educate residents on the importance of environmental protection and how, in the long term, this approach can help drive economic growth. Discover how local artists are reusing waste materials to create beautiful handicraft pieces and local fishermen are taking care of the mangroves, driving a project to replant and grow 20,000 mangrove seedlings during the coming years.

Please note: This tour is a combination of catamaran sailing (transfer to the island) and walking tour. The catamaran ride to/from Ila de deus is 25 minutes. This walking tours involves a moderate amount of walking and standing for approximately 2.5 hours (2km/1.2 miles). This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility. Lightweight, comfortable clothing with flat, closed-toe walking shoes and sun protection is recommended.
