Upon arrival, browse a trio of different markets located on the banks of the Negro River. Your first stop is at the Adolpho Lisboa Market. Built during the rubber boom with material imported from Europe, its cast-iron structure was designed by French engineer Gustave Eiffel, the same man who designed and named the famous Eiffel Tower in Paris. The Adolpho Lisboa Market was inaugurated on July 15, 1883.

Fish, Fruits, Vegetables, Spices, Handicrafts, Local Craft Stores, Pharmacies, Natural Products

To this day, it remains one of the most important spaces for the commercialisation of products and typical foods of the Amazon, due to the abundant species of freshwater fish, handicrafts, fruits, vegetables, and spices. This market is a symbol of the architecture of the heyday of the rubber economy, and a relic for all of Brazil. It has two completely different facades, one facing the Negro River and the other facing the public road. An important historical and architectural building in the city of Manaus, the Adolpho Lisboa Market has several stores with local crafts, as well as pharmacies with natural products extracted from the jungle. Following your tour and some free time to browse the market, walk over to the Manaus Moderna Fair.

Manaus Moderna Fair, Fish, Beef, Pork, Vegetables, Spices, Banana Fair, Banana & Fruit Varieties

The Manaus Moderna Fair abounds with a diverse selection of freshly-caught fish from the Amazonian rivers, as well as beef, pork, poultry, vegetables, spices, flour, etc. Following your guided walking tour here, a final stop is made for a stroll through the Banana Fair. The Banana Fair offers diverse varieties of bananas and seasonal fruits from the Amazon. At the conclusion of your market and shopping excursion, return on-foot to the port terminal, then board a shuttle bus for the short ride back to the pier and your ship.
