Excursion Mousa island hike tour at Lerwick

Depart through Lerwick, the capital of Shetland, as you begin your trip to the Island of Mousa. En route, you will catch your first glimpse of the magnificent Mousa Broch, the tallest and best-preserved broch in the world.
At the small ferry port, you will then transfer to the Solan IV boat for a short crossing to the Island of Mousa.
Mousa is an uninhabited island 1.5 miles long and 1 mile wide. Here you will enjoy a guided walk across part of this island to admire beautiful scenery and wildlife including seal and bird colonies en-route. You may also spot Common and Grey Seals as well as Arctic Terns and Great Skuas.
In addition to the abundant wildlife, Mousa is also home to Mousa Broch – an impressive Iron Age fortress tower which stands 13m in height and is the best preserved of its type.
After a bracing walk you will make the return sailing back to the Mainland, where your coach will be waiting to drive you back to your ship in Lerwick.

Please note: The activity level is strenous, around the island the tracks vary between walkways and rough ground and should present little difficulty to a person of average ability. It can however be slippery, and care should be taken. Walking distance is up to 3 miles. Warm and waterproof clothing, sturdy footwear recommended. The Mousa Ferry is weather dependent and wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed.
