In the south of Portugal, in addition to the many beaches, cliffs, headlands and charming bays in sight, you will find an immense natural richness in fauna. The "Salgados" Lagoon, also known as 'Pera Marsh', is a great birdwatching destination. More than 200 bird species have been registered here and it is considered a national hotspot for its occurrence of rarities. In this Important Bird Area (IBA) you can observe, amongst others, the Marsh Harrier, the Purple Heron, the Ferruginous Duck, the Collared Pratincole or the Penduline Tit.
