From bus drop off by the fortifications (built in the 17th century by Vauban), follow your guide though the city not hiding having been a stronghold for centuries, and enjoy an exceptional view over red bricks ramparts, deep blue waves and stunning 3 000 meters/ 9 000 feet high Alp summits. Pass by the market, through the small streets. After some independent time, drive to magical Saint Paul de Vence. The tapering outline of this 16th-century village stands out far above the rolling hills and rich valleys of the Vence countryside. This picturesque town has retained much of its medieval appearance and is typical of the fortified towns that once guarded the Var frontier.
