Excursion Arctic musical performance tour at Honningsvåg

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

The tiny Norwegian city of Honningsvåg sits along the Barents Sea inside the Arctic Circle at 71 degrees north latitude on the southeastern tip of Magerøya island. It’s a unique environment that poses some very distinct challenges – and humorous quirks – for the hearty souls who reside here. This excursion combines a guided orientation walk with a spirited live performance of “Our Northernmost Life” at a beautifully restored historic venue in the heart of town.

You’ll meet your escort at the pier to begin the approx. 1 hour stroll through the streets of Honningsvåg, leading up to the Perleporten Kulturhus cultural center, occupying a former meeting house from the 1950s. In its second-floor concert space, a talented group of young local actors have been performing this funny, touching musical about life in the Far North since 2013 – to rave reviews. For the next 30 minutes or so, experience the essence of the region through song, dance, and storytelling in an authentic performance brimming with humor and heart. Our Northernmost Life is performed all in English, and it’s all entertaining as the troupe demonstrates how, here where the world seems to end, their lives begin.

Afterwards, the walk back to the pier is an easy 15 minutes.
