Your half-day excursion features a guided walking tour of the village, and a visit to a family farm estate for a lunch of homemade Istrian specialties.
Motovun Village, Guided Tour, Free Time
Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately one-hour drive to Motovun, one of the most beautiful towns in Istria. This hilltop town has retained its medieval feel along its narrow streets and within its well-preserved, intact town walls. Upon arrival, take a guided walking tour past the Romanesque, Gothic and Renaissance-style buildings en route to the main square, which is dominated by the 13th-century belfry of St. Stephen's Church. Take in splendid views of the Mirna River Valley below. Following your tour, some free time is made available to explore the village and browse the shops at your leisure.
Family Farm Estate, Istrian Lunch
Since 1780, on the sunny hills of Motovun, local families started creating indigenous Istrian products. Today, the descendants still create top quality homemade products and serve them in their family farm estates. Enjoy these local specialties with a lunch that may include smoked hams, truffle cheese, pickled vegetables, veal in mushroom sauce, and a local fruit cake for a sweet note. All these dishes are made following the traditional recipes of the region, and with local artisan ingredients. Finally, once satiated, return to the port by coach.
