Excursion Fishing villages of magerøy island tour at Honningsvåg

With its fishing villages and famous mountain plateau, Magerøy Island begs to be explored.

Your adventure begins as you drive through the little town of Honningsvåg, the capital of Magerøy. The majority of the island's population lives here, with fishing and the fish industry as the main source of employment.

Kamøyvær, East of the Sun Gallery

After passing the airstrip you will travel along the Skipsfjord, and begin a climb toward the plateau, making a detour to the fishing village of Kamøyvær. Situated at the head of a narrow fjord, this town offers splendid views. On arrival, proceed to the East of the Sun Gallery. Welcomed by well-known artist Eva Schmutterer, she will introduce you to her handicrafts and pictures, as well as explain her artistic and creative methods in producing her items.

Skarsvåg, North Cape Christmas House

Continuing on to the little town of Skarsvåg, make a stop at the North Cape Christmas House. Inside this tiny but inviting cottage, you will find a selection of knitwear, textiles, wooden dolls and ceramics. Celebrate Christmas during your summer visit and admire the cottage's splendid decorations. During your visit, the host will help you feel the Christmas spirit and treat you to a cup of Norway's traditional Christmas beverage, gløgg, and a Christmas cookie.

You adventure concludes with a brief drive back to the pier.
