Excursion Hluhluwe – sunrise safari and bush breakfast tour at Richards Bay
Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
Discover Africa's oldest designated game reserve on this full-day (seven hours) sunrise photo safari. Explore the incredibly scenic, 9600-hectare Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve as you watch some the many protected animals that live here.
Embark from the pier and board your coach for the 1.5-hour drive north along the national road. Arrive at the Memorial Gate to enter the Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve for a guided two-hour game drive in an open game drive vehicle.
Begin your unforgettable adventure exploring what is truly one of the most fascinating parts of Africa as you board your Land Cruiser with your guide who is a qualified and knowledgeable game ranger. Discover the benefits provided by the Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve that preserves not only the wildlife of Zululand, but the indefinable charm and tradition of the natural surroundings.
As you drive through the rolling hills and open Savannah grasslands, learn about the reserve's renown role in the conservation of endangered black and white rhinos. Keep your eyes peeled for the rare white rhino; with a population of 1,500, it is the largest in the world. In addition to rhino, stay alert to the spectacular variety of birds (300 species) as well as mammals that include elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, blue wildebeest, zebra, giraffe, cheetah, mountain reedbuck, kudu and warthog.
When the game drive is complete, take your game drive vehicle to a secret spot inside the reserve where your special Bush Breakfast awaits your arrival. Following the hearty buffet breakfast served with fruit juice or a steaming cup of tea or coffee, climb back into your game vehicle for your last stretch back to Memorial Gate.
At Memorial Gate, reboard your coach for the transfer back to the pier in Richards Bay.
