Excursion Isle of harris distillery tour at Stornoway

Departing from Stornoway, you will travel south along the scenic roads to the Isle of Harris and to the port town of Tarbert where you will arrive at Isle of Harris Distillery. Known worldwide for its award-winning Gin, the distillery has recently released its much-anticipated single malt whisky, The Hearach. Upon arrival, you will be met with your host and take part in an in depth, visual, sensory experience learning about the various stages of making the Hearach dram (the first legal whisky to ever be produced on the island), with a tasting initially of the New Make Spirit.
Continue on to a tasting of the Hearach whisky which was released in September 2023. During this time, your host will discuss the distillery’s very short history, the impact on the community/ economy and it’s purpose. You will then visit the production room where the whole process to distil the spirit happens and there will be an opportunity to ask questions.
Finally, you will visit the blending hall where you will learn about casks and the finishing process. During this time, you will also have the chance to look into the bottling hall to see the team filling whisky bottles.
Compliment your visit to the distillery by exploring Tarbert afterwards where you will find the iconic Harris Tweed shop full of hand-woven garments and accessories as well as the fragrant Essence of Harris shop brimming with island produced candles and home fragrances.
Return to Stornoway along the same scenic route where you will be sure to enjoy the mountainous views as you travel back to the northern Isle.
