Excursion Mid voyage land adventure: unrivalled uruguay tour at Punta Del Este
Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
DAY 1 – PUNTA DEL ESTE / JOSÉ IGNACIO
Disembark your ship in Punta del Este, Uruguay’s most glamorous seaside resort, and begin your journey inland toward one of the country’s most scenic wine regions. En route, arrive at a boutique vineyard set amid rolling countryside, where you will enjoy a guided visit followed by a wine tasting and lunch featuring regional flavors and local wines.
After lunch, continue to the exclusive coastal enclave of José Ignacio, once a quiet fishing village and today one of South America’s most refined beach destinations. Upon arrival, check in at your carefully selected hotel and enjoy time to relax or explore the surrounding area at leisure.
In the evening, gather for a welcome dinner at a renowned local restaurant, where seasonal cuisine is paired with regional wines.
Overnight in José Ignacio.
DAY 2 – JOSÉ IGNACIO & URUGUAYAN COUNTRYSIDE
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before setting out to experience Uruguay’s countryside and rural traditions. Travel a short distance to a traditional estancia, a working ranch set amid open grasslands, where life follows the rhythms of nature.
Here, guests may choose to participate in horseback riding across the property (optional) or simply relax and take in the serene surroundings. A family-style lunch is served, showcasing classic Uruguayan dishes made with fresh, local ingredients.
The remainder of the afternoon is at leisure, allowing you to return to your hotel to relax, enjoy the beach, or explore José Ignacio independently.
Dinner is included this evening, either at the hotel or at the estancia, depending on arrangements.
Overnight in José Ignacio.
DAY 3 – JOSÉ IGNACIO / MONTEVIDEO
After breakfast, depart José Ignacio and drive toward Montevideo, Uruguay’s elegant capital. Along the way, stop at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Atchugarry (MACA), Uruguay’s first major contemporary art museum, where striking architecture blends harmoniously with the surrounding landscape.
Continue to the coast to visit Casapueblo, an iconic whitewashed cliffside structure overlooking the ocean. Once the home and studio of artist Carlos Páez Vilaró, this remarkable site offers sweeping views and insight into one of Uruguay’s most celebrated cultural figures. Lunch is included here.
Arrive in Montevideo in the afternoon and check in to your hotel. The remainder of the evening is free to enjoy the city independently, perhaps exploring the Rambla waterfront or dining at one of the city’s many excellent restaurants.
Overnight in Montevideo.
DAY 4 – MONTEVIDEO / BUENOS AIRES
After breakfast, transfer to the airport or ferry terminal for your journey across the Río de la Plata to Buenos Aires. Upon arrival in Argentina’s vibrant capital, enjoy a time-permitting city tour, introducing the city’s most iconic neighborhoods and landmarks.
