Excursion Scone palace tour at South Queensferry

As you make your way from the port, admire the stunning Scottish scenery along the way before your visit to the magnificent Scone Palace.

You will be greeted by a knowledgable palace guide and you will hear about the Palace’s central role throughout the history of Scotland and was formerly the crowning place of Scottish kings, including Macbeth and Robert the Bruce.  The palace’s 125 sumptuous rooms house a fabulous collection of French furniture, clocks, 16th century needlework (including bed hangings worked by Mary Queen of Scots), ivories, objets d’art and one of the finest collections of porcelain in the country. It is a treasure trove of Scottish history.

Enjoy a light lunch before exploring the extensive grounds with its unique gardens and the famous Douglas fir trees which were introduced into the estate by the Scotish botanist David Douglas in the 19^th century. Meet the resident peacocks which have made Scone Palace their home.

You will have free time to visit the Palace gift shop and use the restrooms before returning to the pier.

Please note: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking, at times over uneven and cobblestone surfaces and inclines, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach. Guests are advised to wear warm, comfortable clothing in layers with flat, closed-toe walking shoes, and bring sun protection and a weatherproof jacket or coat from the ship.
