Jersey Museum
In 1992 the Guild of Travel Writers voted the Jersey Museum the most outstanding tourist attraction in the British Isles. Spanning some 600 million years of history, the displays include Geology, the unique Government (Chambre des États), including exhibits depicting this 8000-year-old island. The museum has won a number of major national awards of excellence. See some delightful old photographs, plus the island famous cattle 'The Jersey cow'. Step inside the beautifully restored Merchant's House and enter the drama of a Victorian family in crisis.
Maritime Museum
Walk over to the Maritime Museum next door and absorb yourself with interactive exhibits to feel the force of a gale, understand the tides and watch boat builders work in the purpose-built workshop. Immerse yourself in songs and stories of the sea and visit the award-winning Occupation Tapestry made by the people of Jersey to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Island's liberation after the German occupation. The Occupation Tapestry is probably the greatest community project ever undertaken in Jersey, depicting life of that time with over 300 islanders working for 30,000 hours to produce the tapestry.
