Excursion (wheelchair accessible) porto santo stefano tour at Porto Santo Stefano

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

This tour involves a moderate amount of walking of about 0.7 miles and is specially designed for guests with limited mobility and guests who utilize a wheelchair or a scooter.

Start your Accessible Shore Excursion by meeting your driver/guide at the cruise dock. Board your wheelchair accessible van, and enjoy the approximately 30-minute drive from the port to the hilltop Convent of the Passionist Fathers, located at 273 meters above sea level. From the monastery’s square, take in breathtaking views over the Orbetello lagoon and surrounding coastline. Built in the late 17th century, the convent is still home to a small religious community devoted to prayer, study, and missionary work. Visitors often enjoy browsing the small shop for locally produced honey and herbal liqueurs.

Next, continue with a 15-minute drive to the coastal town of Orbetello, nestled between two lagoons. Join your guide for a 900-meter walking tour through the charming historic center, past the Cathedral and main squares, with time to explore narrow alleys and scenic waterfronts. You have time at leisure to enjoy a gelato, a cappuccino, or a bit of local shopping along the lively Corso.

The return journey includes a 45-minute panoramic drive along the scenic Via Panoramica, a winding coastal road offering magnificent views of Giglio and Giannutri, two islands that form part of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park. Along the way, catch glimpses of the 16th-century Spanish fortresses, including the fortress of Porto Santo Stefano and Forte Filippo in Porto Ercole, which reflect the area's rich strategic past.
