Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

Located just outside Truro lies Tregothnan Estate and Gardens. Home to the Boscawen family since 1334, Tregothnan not only has the largest historic garden in Cornwall but also the largest tea gardens in Europe. Tregothnan yielded Britain's first home-grown English tea in 2005 and today up to 20,000 tea bushes are planted every year.

Scenic Cornish Drive

Departing from Falmouth, enjoy a scenic approximately 45 minutes' drive towards Coombe, situated on the Fal River, which holds Tregothnan's famous orchards and tea gardens.

Tregothnan Estate and Gardens

Upon arrival join Tregothnan's Head Gardener for a guided tour of these impressive tea gardens. Stroll through the early tea fields and enjoy a spectacular view of the River Fal before walking down to Coombe as your host explains the fascinating history of the landscape, which has an almost Himalayan feel. Visit the Hives, Jungle Garden and The Hidden Tea Valley before visiting the rare kea plum and ancient apple orchards. The rare kea plums have been prized for centuries in Cornwall and extend to approximately 20 acres along the waterfront.

Tea Plantation

Learn how the tea hills benefit from the 18 metre-deep sea creek and discover the exciting plans for the future before making your way back to Lower Lanner where a gift of Tregothnan teas and local produce await as a small reminder of your exclusive visit to Britain's first tea plantation.
