Excursion Corcovado & christ the redeemer tour at Rio de Janeiro

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

Experience one of the most famous and revered sites in Rio de Janeiro during this picturesque, half-day visit to the statue of Christ the Redeemer.

Corcovado - Christ the Redeemer

Depart the pier in Rio for the approximate one-hour drive to Corcovado Train Station, then board the cogwheel railway train and ascend 2,400 feet (731 metres) to the top of Corcovado Mountain. The 2.5-mile-long (4 km) cog railway was opened in October 1884 by Emperor Dom Pedro II with steam trains; these were replaced by electric trains in 1910. En route, take in spectacular, 360-degree panoramic views overlooking the city and harbour. Upon arrival at the top of the mountain, you can take the elevator and escalator, or proceed with the adventurous climb up 240 steps to access the 120-foot-high (36-metre-high) statue of Christ the Redeemer.

Following your train-ride back down Corcovado Mountain, re-board your coach for the approximate one-hour return drive to the pier.
