Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

Have you ever heard of Fallas? It is perhaps one of the most famous festivals celebrated in March in Valencia. The city transforms into an open-air museum of ephemeral monuments, accompanied by music, regional costumes, and the scent of powder. However, preparations for this festival can be seen and felt throughout the city year-round.

This tour will take you to the heart of this artistic and traditional movement, providing a firsthand look at all the elements involved in this magical celebration.

Scenic Tour and Fallas Artistry

We will begin our day with a panoramic tour of the city. Our first stop will be the “City of Arts and Science,” featuring the Hemispheric, which has become one of the most emblematic buildings in modern Valencia.

Following the shoreline of the Turia River, we will head to the “Ciutat Fallera” (City of Fallas), where you can meet local artists who craft the Fallas monuments, which are displayed throughout the city in mid-March and ultimately set ablaze during the main event—Nit de la Crema.

Museo del Artista Fallero

Next, we will visit the Museo del Artista Fallero, where you will have the opportunity to see the Ninots—collected figures pardoned each year from being burned.

An experienced local artist will guide you through several warehouses, explaining the process of creating a Ninot de la Falla, how they are moved to the streets, and details about their burning. Prepare to be immersed in a world of art, vibrant figures, and imaginative shapes that will make your visit truly breathtaking.

Snacks and Sightseeing

After exploring the warehouses, we will enjoy a typical Valencian snack and refreshments alongside the artists themselves.Following this, we will reboard the bus and travel to downtown Valencia, passing by the famous Palacio de los Marques de Dos Aguas. We will also admire the Bullring and Torres de Serrano.

Walking Tour of Historic Valencia

Our walking tour will begin in the Barri de Velluters, passing artisan workshops where each showcase displays stunning dresses worn by girls during Las Fallas—dresses that are iconic pieces of the festival along with the Ninots. In this neighborhood, we will visit the Artisanal Silk Shop, known for its exclusive, handcrafted items made from natural Valencian silk.

We will proceed to “El Casal,” the venue where falleros (festival participants) gather throughout the year to prepare for upcoming events. During the Fallas week, this location becomes like their second home.Next, we will enjoy a leisurely walk through the city’s historic old quarter, passing by the Central Market and the Silk Market (La Lonja), one of Europe’s most famous Gothic monuments, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our stroll will take us to the Round Square, Cathedral, Virgin Square, and the Basílica de los Desamparados, all of which we will observe from outside.
