West Coast Scenic Drive & St. Nicholas Abbey Visit
Your journey begins with a relaxing scenic drive along Barbados’ elegant West Coast, known for its luxury homes and coastal beauty. Upon arrival at St. Nicholas Abbey, one of the Caribbean’s most treasured historic landmarks, you will explore this beautifully restored Jacobean mansion dating back to 1660. Discover its refined architecture, antique furnishings, working rum distillery, and steam mill, with time to visit the gift shop offering locally produced rum and sugar-based goods.
Heritage Railway Experience
A highlight of the tour is the St. Nicholas Abbey Heritage Railway. Board the custom-built train for a leisurely 45-minute journey through lush fields, mahogany woodlands, and past a former quarry, culminating at the top of Cherry Tree Hill. During a scenic stopover, enjoy panoramic views of the countryside stretching to the Atlantic Ocean and capture memorable photographs before the train returns.
East Coast Views & Atlantis Historic Inn
Leaving the Abbey, the route continues across the island toward Barbados’ rugged East Coast. Pause at Bathsheba, renowned for its dramatic rock formations and powerful Atlantic surf, and a well-known location for local and international surfing competitions. A short drive brings you to the Atlantis Historic Inn, where you will enjoy a refreshing drink in a spectacular coastal setting before beginning the scenic return drive through rolling hills and countryside back to the port.
