Note

Please note: Republic of Congo is a very-low-income country with very basic infrastructure, and vastly different to the western culture mentality. Local conditions may be challenging; therefore, we urge flexibility and understanding as we visit unique and somewhat remote destinations. Coaches, guides, equipment, and services are the best-available in the area, but may not be up to the standards of those found on other excursions. Transfer time each way is approximately 75-90 minutes, depending on traffic conditions. A moderate amount of walking to fully explore the sites visited; however, walking and climbing the salt glacier is at the discretion of each guest. The ground around the glacier is uneven, sandy and damp, making this very difficult for guests with mobility issues. There are no toilet facilities on the buses. Portable toilets will be available at the salt glacier. Do not take photos of military buildings, officers in uniform, or people without their permission during the shore excursion. Please ask your guide for guidance. Lightweight, comfortable clothing with flat, closed and waterproof trekking or walking shoes, sun protection and insect repellant are recommended. Anticipate high temperatures and humidity and we recommend staying hydrated by bringing your water bottle. Guests are informed that tips to local guides and drivers are at the guest’s discretion.
